FORMER Daily Record assistant editor STUART BARR died on April 23 (2017), aged 89. He began his distinguished newspaper career as a reporter with the Govan Press in Glasgow.
Stuart held subbing, news and features desk posts at various titles including the Northern Echo and Scottish Daily Mail.
He was Daily Record assistant editor for about 20 years before retirement in the 1980s.
But he could not stay idle and returned to help launch The Glaswegian newspaper before embarking on a second career as a journalism lecturer.
