WE have belatedly heard of the death, in September 2022, of LEO WHITE, popular and long-serving former Northern news editor of the Daily Mirror. Leo died on September 8, (2022) at the age of 91.
Leo White was born on August 31, 1931, a proud Yorkshireman. He went into journalism after his National Service, and in his early days ran the East Mid news agency in Doncaster. He finally retired from his post at the Daily Mirror in 1991 after serving for many decades.
His niece Tracey said of “our darling Leo”: “He wanted absolutely no fuss about anything and as you can imagine, we are truly very sad to be without him. He has been a huge part of our family and still is. We have been unable to find his address book and as he had not used email for quite some time, we have really struggled to tell anyone about his passing.
“Leo instructed in his Will that there should be no funeral, and he left his body to medical research. He wanted no fuss, no funeral, no memorial.
“He was a very modest man, and a very kind and generous man, with great morals. He had a great life, and was so interesting and always had stories to share. We all really miss him.”
