Henry Jackson died on 1st January 2009 aged 94 years. Henry was former manager of the Wire Room at MGN Holborn Circus and set up the Wire Room at Withy Grove, Manchester originally. Henry was a good friend and colleague of Bob Avery, former manager of the Telecommunications Department in the 80’s and 90’s and who died in 2006. Henry’s brother was John Jackson the former SLADE General Secretary.
Henry was writing his biography for the benefit of his granddaughter (who now has his portrait by Salon) and we hope to have a fuller tribute to Henry, and his life at Reuters and then the Mirror during those pioneering days, later this year.
Henry’s daughter, Joy Fordham, supplied the above information.
