FRED LOFTHOUSE, who worked at MGN in the cashiers, and later in the Holborn library, died yesterday (Mar 25, 2020). He was an active member of AMP and always made an effort to attend the Association’s annual general meetings.
Fred and his wife Olive celebrated their Diamond Wedding in 2017. One of their daughters will be very familiar to AMP members – Carol McNamara is an executive in the pensions department at Reach plc, formerly Trinity Mirror.
We send our condolences to Carol and the wider family.
More information when we have it.
From GERALD MOWBRAY, AMP secretary: “Fred was a very loyal AMP member and supporter, and he and I always had a few words at the AGMs he regularly attended over the years.
“My wife Joy and I got to know Fred better when we met up with him at a number of Mirror funerals. We spent some time with Fred after the services talking about our respective families – Fred was very proud of his large family.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with Fred’s family members at this time, and particularly with Carol McNamara, his daughter, who was very helpful to AMP during her role as Trinity Mirror’s pensions manager for many years. She’s now Reach’s direct contributions pension schemes administrator.”
