ALAN HUNTER, a former Daily Record district man in Fife, died on May 15 [2019], aged 75. His son Graeme, a freelance stills photographer, said his father had been ill for some time.
In the face of ferocious competition Alan often showed his mettle in what was then a huge circulation area for the Record. After the Record he was a reporter for The Herald in Edinburgh.
Following Alan’s funeral on May 30, old comrades joined the family at Pitreavie Golf Club to recall his life. Malcolm Speed, former managing editor at SDR&SM said: “I worked with Alan in the heyday of newspapers when circulation was everything. Condolences to wife Christine, son and daughter Graeme and Jill, and all of his family.”
