STEPHANIE KERSTEIN left the Mirror in 1993 after Maxwell’s death. She worked as a researcher in the Live Letters department, working with the Old Codgers and answering the readers’ letters. Before that she was secretary to the Sunday Mirror sports editor, Tony Smith. After that she worked at The Guardian as an editorial administrator until she took voluntary redundancy in 2010. She has always been active in the union under all its many different names and became the equality rep for the Unite Union at The Guardian. Stephanie enjoys gardening and walking her energetic dog Harvey. She also also sits as a Magistrate in the City of London and helps in the Friends’ shop at Barts Hospital.
